Are you interested in film, acting, sketch comedy, or the pursuit of happiness?  What about the Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith and Thandie Newton?  If the answer to any one of these questions is "yes," come audition for Respectably French!

We write, film, and produce all of our own material, unlike the rest of the groups on campus who either steal their stuff from the Lonely Island or come up with their own original material. Those slackers...

You can be part of our fun and versatile community in four different ways:
1) acting
2) writing
3) production
4) music composition
It is not necessary that you have ever seen a camera before.

So come be part of the magic!  The only commitment required is a weekly club meeting and an occasional weekend for filming and editing.  All of our members will tell you that this is a small price to pay for being part of the magic.

Where do I audition as an actor?

Alas, Common Casting is over and we have already made our callback decisions for this semester.  Thank you to everyone who auditioned, and stay tuned throughout the semester to watch us in action!

How else can I get involved?

If you're not interested in acting, no problem!  We are also looking for motivated, creative Harvardians who are interested in writing, producing, composing music, or joining the business team.

            Writing

The writing team works to conceive, write, and edit short, funny scripts for weekly production.  The writers work with the actors to develop funny characters, situations or recurring segments.  Since the scripts you write will actually get produced, you will gain experience in writing and editing scripts for the screen.

            Production

Directors will have the opportunity to master the art of directing for video in the context of short sketches.  Working in collaboration with writers, actors, producers, and editors, the director will actually put the sketch together.

Editors (who may also be directors) take the video, digitally (on a computer, not with your fingers) stitch it together, tweak it, and add sounds and special effects.  This is great experience for anybody who wants to be involved in film.

            Business

Members of the Business Board orchestrate all Respectably French! events, promotes Respectably French! shows, and keeps things running smoothly and effectively.  Members of the Business Board can also become involved in any aspect of production and writing they'd like.

            Music Composition

Musical composers help score our videos and come up with original funny musical sketches.  This is an invaluable part of the production of videos, since footage without a score is like 'pain au chocolat' without the chocolat.
